GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
The American Corner Skopje membership is FREE OF CHARGE
In order to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for reading, learning, and other activities, the American Corner Skopje requires all visitors to comply with the following GENERAL RULES and REGULATIONS.
The following are NOT permitted at the American Corner
Engaging in any conduct that disrupts or interferes with normal operations of the American Corner Skopje, or that disturbs staff or another visitor. Such conduct includes:
- Harassing or threatening behavior
- Using obscene or abusive language and gestures
- Making unreasonable noise, including, but not limited to: shouting, loud speaking, and other activities like playing loud music or videos on any electronic devices.
- Interrupting, speaking over, or arguing with event speakers or other audience members;
- Photographing or filming on the American Corner Skopje premises without permission.
- Damaging, defacing, misusing, or loaning any kind of materials or property of the American Corner Skopje.
- Leaving behind trash, such as wrappers, food, or drink.
USE OF THE LIBRARY
All members are permitted to loan materials from the library, including books, magazines, picture books, graphic novels, films, and audiobooks. The duration of the loan is as follows:
- General literature (including graphic novels and picture books) – 2 to 4 weeks. The loan can be extended for 2 additional weeks upon request. The American Corner Skopje retains the right to decline the extension if the book has been requested by another member.
- Magazines – 2 weeks. The loan cannot be extended.
- Films - 2 weeks. The loan cannot be extended.
- SAT, TOEFL, GRE, and AP preparatory materials – 2 weeks. The loan cannot be extended.
If a member is late for their loan date and notifies the American Corner Skopje staff, there will be no penalties.
If a member is late on their loan date and has failed to notify the American Corner Skopje staff, this will be noted on their account. Repeated late notices and failing to comply with the American Corner Skopje’s requests to return the materials will result in a loan ban, which can last from 1 to 3 months depending on the severity.
DAMAGING, DEFACING, OR DESTROYING AMERICAN CORNER SKOPJE MATERIALS WILL RESULT IN A PERMANENT LOAN BAN.
USE OF THE CORNER SPACE
All members are encouraged to utilize the American Corner Space and equipment (internet, laptops, tablets, e-readers) to work, write, or read, for up to 2 hours at one time. This way AC staff can perform their regular duties and ensure a comfortable, productive atmosphere, and allow all members to access the space and equipment.
PRIVACY POLICY
The American Corner Skopje values your PRIVACY and keeps all library records CONFIDENTIAL.

- When you sign up to become a member of American Corner Skopje, you will automatically receive our e-mail newsletter. You can stop receiving the newsletter by clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email.
Photographs
- All events held at the American Corner Skopje or organized by American Corner Skopje are photographed. American Corner Skopje staff and volunteers reserve the right and permission to use these photographic and video materials, including of minors, for publication and distribution through any media, including the internet, for editorial, advertising, or promotional purposes.
- IF YOU WISH NOT TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED OR FILMED LET STAFF KNOW BEFORE THE START OF ANY EVENT.
REGULATIONS FOR EVENT ATTENDANCE
The American Corner Skopje hosts and organizes 3 types of events:
CLOSED GROUP EVENTS
- Invitation-only, not open to the general public.
REGISTRATION-BASED EVENTS
- Require previous registration. Attendance permitted only upon confirmation of registration. If the number of applicants surpasses the occupancy limit, American Corner Skopje maintains the right to select participants, on first come first serve basis or based on pre-published selection criteria.
OPEN EVENTS
- Open to the general public, within the occupancy limit.
All American Corner Skopje program attendees must respect the restrictions on the program announcement. Failure to do so, or repeated attempts to register for events that are marked as age-restricted or otherwise unsuitable, will result in being barred from attending future events.
In order to maintain an environment conductive to the purposes of the programs, all attendees must comply with the GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
CONSEQUENCES OF UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
ANY member, visitor, or program attendee who VIOLATES these rules and regulations will be offered a WARNING from staff.
- If the offending behavior is not immediately corrected, is repeated, or another violating action follows the previous one, American Corner Skopje staff, reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary and appropriate in its sole discretion, including expulsion from the event without further warning, exclusion from future events, and other consequences.
